UT Elementary Pre-Kindergarten Class Demonstrates Best Practices

UT Elementary's pre-kindergarten class was chosen as the top model to demonstrate its high-quality early education program to the state of Texas, and was invited to hold class in the ground-floor rotunda of the Texas State Capitol on February 17, 2009.

On this day, our pre-kindergarten teacher Marcia Molinar and her students demonstrated our early education program, which includes the recommended Texas Early Education Model (TEEM) in combination with our integration of Social and Emotional Learning.  Several legislators stopped by to congratulate us on our work and to read to our students and spend time with them.

UT Elementary holds the prestigious honor of being accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children, a highly coveted designation for a top-quality early childhood education program.  It is through programs such as our early childhood education model that we are fulfilling our mission to serve as a demonstration school to improve public education in the state of Texas, and we are excited that our work was recognized and honored at this event.
