UT Elementary School Education Council

The University of Texas Elementary School Education Council is a committee of parents, community representatives, teachers, the principal, and other campus staff. The mission of the University of Texas Elementary School’s Education Council is to promote excellence in education for all students through broad-based representation.

The Education Council provides valuable input to the principal. The primary purpose of the Education Council is to address the needs and achievement levels of all students through the review of campus data, programming and the development of the annual Campus Improvement Plan.  The formation of an education council is required by state law (Texas Education Code, §11.251). Specific functions of the education council include providing review and comment on:

Campus Programming
Campus Performance
Campus Staff Development Plan
Campus-Level Waiver Requests to the State
Campus Budget

During the school year, our Education Council holds quarterly meetings on the UT Elementary School campus from 3:45-5:00. The final meeting of the year is a full day retreat to work on the Campus Improvement Plan. If you have a concern or would like to participate in this democratic strategic planning, please contact one of the Council members who represent you: either staff, parent, faculty, or community.
