"One looks back with appreciation to the brilliant teachers, but with gratitude to those who touched our human feelings. The curriculum is so much necessary material, but warmth is the vital element for the growing plant and for the soul of the child."

Welcome to Ms. Ledbetter’s  Webpage!
I love to teach and lead, and I have a special love for social studies. This is my 9th year at UT Elementary. I joined the UTES family when our first graduating class entered 5th grade in 2007.

I am excited to return to administrative work as the Associate Principal at UTES. This is my 26th year in education. My experience includes teaching for 19 years and also serving as an administrator for 7 years. I started my teaching career in Austin ISD at Govalle Elementary in 1990 and now have the honor of teaching the children of some of my former students.

My husband and I live in Driftwood, about 22 miles southwest of Austin. I grew up there, and we raised their 2 children there. My four young grandchildren, Lauren, Noah, Jack, and Luke are so special to me. If you want to see me “sparkle”, just ask me about them.

Teaching is my passion. I love getting my students as excited about learning as I am. I believe that building a strong community in my classroom is the key to our success. I believe that teaching is the most important and rewarding job that anyone could pursue, and I feel blessed to teach at UT Elementary.
I am fortunate to get to share my passion for teaching with other teachers. I am thrilled to be recognized as the James F. Veninga Outstanding Teaching of the Humanities Award
with Humanities Texas for the 2014-2015 school year. I was also honored when I was awarded the NCSS Elementary Social Studies Teacher of the Year for 2012. Through my work at UT Austin, training, blogging, and writing, I am able to share the amazing things we do at UTES.
